Object-oriented implementation of 3D DC adaptive finite- element method
In this paper, we introduced a clear objectoriented framework to implement the complicated adaptive procedure with C++ programming language. In this framework, it consisted of the unstructured mesh generation, a-posterior error estimating, adaptive strategy, and the postprocessing. Unlike the procedure-oriented framework, which is commonly used in DC resistivity modeling with FORTRAN language, ...
متن کاملGoal-Oriented Self-Adaptive hp Finite Element Simulation of 3D DC Borehole Resistivity Simulations
In this paper we present a goal-oriented self-adaptive hp Finite Element Method (hp-FEM) with shared data structures and a parallel multi-frontal direct solver. The algorithm automatically generates (without any user interaction) a sequence of meshes delivering exponential convergence of a prescribed quantity of interest with respect to the number of degrees of freedom. The sequence of meshes i...
متن کاملA Goal-Oriented Adaptive Finite Element Method with Convergence Rates
An adaptive finite element method is analyzed for approximating functionals of the solution of symmetric elliptic second order boundary value problems. We show that the method converges and derive a favorable upper bound for its convergence rate and computational complexity. We illustrate our theoretical findings with numerical results.
متن کاملObject-oriented programming of adaptive finite element and finite volume methods"
This article describes an object-oriented implementation of the finite element method and the finite volume method in a unified adaptive system using the programming language C++. The system applies to various types of mathematical model problems. Traditionally, different numerical methods for different types of problems are implemented independently by procedural languages such as C and Fortra...
متن کاملSimulation of 3D DC Borehole Resistivity Measurements with a Goal- Oriented hp Finite-Element Method. Part I: Laterolog and LWD
We simulate and study the combined three-dimensional effects on resistivity logging measurements due to dip angle (in deviated wells), different arrangements of three-dimensional electrodes, and anisotropy effects. All results correspond to electrostatic (zero frequency) measurements. Thus, we consider direct current (DC) electrodes. We simulate both laterolog and logging-while-drilling (LWD) m...
